Will the treatment hurt?
Compared to older IPL treatments, Lumecca has a special cooling system, providing a more comfortable experience. Depending on the person and their pain tolerance, some might experience a mild stinging sensation during their treatment. The application of topical numbing creams is always an option to enhance comfort during the procedure.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the size of the targeted area, treatments can generally be completed in 20 to 30 minutes.
How many sessions will it take for me to see results?
Even after the first session, patients can see the difference in their complexion and skin clarity. Results continue to improve with subsequent treatment sessions. We usually recommend a series of 3 treatments, spaced 3-4 weeks apart.
Is there downtime?
More often than not, there’s no downtime after a Lumecca IPL Photofacial session. You may experience some redness (like a sunburn) on the treated area. So, depending on the severity of the skin concern and the intensity of the treatment, some patients may prefer to “lay low” for a few hours afterward.
Will there be side effects?
You might experience temporary redness, swelling, and mild discomfort in the treated area. However, these side effects usually go away within a few hours, or a few days at most. Even though major side effects are rare, your technician will inform you of potential risks during your consultation.
